The history of this village is hard to believe. Our guide will tell all! The ‘ghost’ village of Acebuchal
remained abandoned until 1998. José Muñoz Lozano fulfilled a lifelong dream and gradually
rebuilt the village.
The results are nothing short of spectacular – everything was done by hand.
There wasn’t even electricity or water until 2003!
Antonio’s family now runs a successful restaurant and rural hotel in the village. The food is
fantastic, most of the produce is grown locally and organically.

It’s described as the perfect place to take pictures of natural landscapes. Also known as the “King’s Pathway” it was originally built in 1901 as part of King Alfonso XIII’s ambitious hydroelectric energy project to unify three rivers.
By the 1990s, the long-since disappeared handrails and missing chunks of concrete created eye-popping stretches of the path that was only inches wide or non-existent.
Following an extensive €5.5-million restoration, the path reopened in March 2015 and is open to anyone with a reasonable head for heights.
NOTE: Please let us know if you are unable to cope with heights and would be uncomfortable doing this trip, we can make alternative arrangements for you. Perhaps a day in Malaga – we can drop you off and pick you up. The price of the holiday will be altered accordingly”
